As I reflect on the history of Harmonic Riding & Equine Integral Movement™, I experience a deep appreciation for every person, horse and event that guided, challenged, encouraged, and doubted the potential for this work to fundamentally change both humans and horses, alike. I also appreciate each time the horses reminded us that we actually knew much less than we thought. This has been a very humbling path to take, and I have been humbled, along it, so many times.

My life has always been filled with animals. As a child, I was surrounded by a variety of animals living in our home and at our barn. Some were visiting my father’s clinic as patients and others were being boarded. I worked at the clinic during the day and was frequently awoken in the middle of the night to help with an emergency surgery, whelping, or colicky horse.

My first horse, Nubbins, was a beautiful bay Morgan cross. Nubbins gave me my first experience in English riding and jumping. Along the way, my father diagnosed Nubbins with "ringbone". My father said there was nothing that could be done and that eventually she would not be rideable. I could not imagine not riding her and decided there must be a cure for this disease... more
